Discipline Duggar Style

Have we not all seen the Duggar family on TLC or Discovery Health? They have 17 children and are expecting #18 in January. Have you ever watched them and wonder how they get all 17 kids to act like little obedient robots?

Well I don't know the answer to that, but I found a clip of the mom, Michelle, trying to give an interview with 3 of the youngest ones near by. This looks more normal to me, but we never see this on their program. Perhaps this is discipline Duggar style. What do you think?

Wow! She is so patient. And to think she has 18 kids and one on the way. She makes me look mean.

She makes me look mean too. I feel like all I do is yell at Hannah...and I only have 2 kids. I would go insane with that many.

Is this a Mormon family? It never mentions. I had a friend who had 11 children, and her kids reminded me of these kids. Older children patiently helping younger children. Polite. A pleasure to be around. (They were Quakers.)

Whew, we're tired just watching 7 of the 14 clips! How interesting tho. Unbelievable actually. Are they on TV like the Jon and Kate + 8? What channel and when? Ohmigoodness. Love, Dad and Susan

DARLENE... No they are not Mormon but they are very religious. She home schools them all and also they have church at home, too. I heard they do not have a TV...not sure if that is true.

I have scene a show on regular TV about them one time a long time ago. i think they were expecting their 12th or something like that. I was very impressed by her and the way they were raising their children. i had no idea they had a show. I'm glad they do.

Jill, I was able to watch the rest of the clips. What an amazing family. Do you suppose she is always that soft-spoken? Obviously they aren't hurting financially. Do they earn their living from being on TV? So interesting. Thanks for opening up this new thing to me. I was amazed at Jon and Kate + 8, but this is above and beyond. Love, Susan

Am I the only one that thinks she is on the edge of a nervous breakdown...?? That softness to her voice can only last sooo long!

SUSAN...I couldn't figure out what you meant by those other clips. I finally figured it out. I didn't realize those other videos came along with the one I put on there :)
I have never seen Michelle be anything but soft spoken and kind. Her husband was an Arkansas House of Representative but now I think he is a real estate agent. I just googled them and found out she is a real estate agent too!

They built their 7000 sq ft home as a family and it is debt free. Very interesting family. I don't think they have a regular show on TV, just several specials.

ERIN...I know what you mean. She seems either that, or not human. Many of her children are adults and as far as I know they all live at home...so maybe it is like having several parents for the kids. In other words, she is not doing this all by herself, no one could. But what I really don't understand is how does her body keep housing babies, and yet she still looks so healthy.

Hi Jill! I was totally impressed by this video. I've seen the Duggars on tv before, but this seems to show just HOW patient she really is. God seems to have made her without an anger button! My kids said, "You should get more patience so you can have more kids." Thanks, I'll have to pray about that one. ;)

Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm glad you enjoyed my story. :) You're welcome to quote a paragraph and link to it if you like. I'd prefer that to republishing the whole story.

And congratulations to Logan and Amy! I'll pray for patience for her, too! LOL.

I think their family is pretty amazing. I know she gets a lot of help from the other kids and while some are critical of this, I think it helps them to learn patience and responsibility, not to mention selflessness. She is a very loving and giving person and an inspiration to me to be more patient and CALM!

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
